California General Eligibility Guidelines
-
All operations must be listed in the Risk Classification Table, and the premium
for incidental exposures should not exceed 25% of the policy premium.
-
No more than 3 losses within the past 3 years.
-
Current owners must have successfully operated this or a similar business for
at least 3 years. EXCEPTION: Apartment, Building Owners and Condominium
programs and risks that are franchises.

Sound financial condition.
-
Insurance to Value.
-
Full compliance with all Life Safety Requirements and building ordinances and
laws.

All habitational units must have hard-wired smoke detectors (except if less
than 3 stories and 8 units - battery operated acceptable).

Occupancy rates must be:85% or better for Apartments and Condominiums; 65% or
better for Hotels and Motels; 75% or better for all others.

Buildings that contain any of the following occupancies are ineligible: Bowling
Centers; Public Assembly, Recreation or Amusement; Roller Skating Rinks;
Lounges, Bars, Taverns or Nightclubs; Electroplating; Hotels or Motels (except
in the Hotel/Motel program); Manufacturing (except in the Manufacturing
program); Woodworking.

Buildings with cooking or baking exposures must meet all of the following:
Restaurant occupancies may not exceed 7,500 sq. ft. (15,000 sq. ft. in the
Restaurant program); risks with fryers, broilers, grills or baking operations
must be in full compliance with NFPA Standard 96 and the UL 300 Standard;
restaurants may not be open more than 18 hours per day.

Seasonal operations (closed more than 60 consecutive days) are not eligible.
